Ghosts of Birthdays Past

Posted on by Abigail Keeso in Events & Places, WR Living | 7 Comments

I was born on the holiday Monday in 1987. Apparently my brothers were under the impression the entire time that the thing in mom’s belly was going to be something exciting – something fun to play with. Did I ever disappoint. I’m told they took one look at me and started jumping on the bed.

Treat of the Week: Fired Up Caeser, Lightened Up!

I love caesars and the newsletter described a recipe where you first infuse the vodka for 18-hours with Davids Tea “Fired Up Fennel” tea. The tea itself contains fennel seeds, anise seeds, liquorice root and chilli peppers. I was super excited about this tea to begin with since Dr. Oz identified fennel as the new (“secret”) power food. (Yes, Dr. Oz is a weirdo, but I really appreciate the health promotion his show brings to daytime TV).

OOTD: Oh Hai Spring

Posted on by Abigail Keeso in Fashion, Outfit of the Day | 3 Comments

This weekend we finally got some fantastic spring-like weather and I capitalized on it with a bright maxi skirt.  I’m really LOVING the bright trend this season but have felt weird wearing it up until this point as I feel it is paired best with a sunny day.

A to Z Fashion: G is For…

I’m going to Rome in a few weeks and that’s exactly where Giambattista Valli is from. His first fashion job was for Cecilia Fanfani where he planned couture shows in and around Rome. After working in public relations for awhile he was promoted to the design staff at Roberto Capucci. Valli worked with the likes of Fendi as well as Krizia but things changed big time when he was appointed art director for Emanuel Ungaro in 1997.

Reminder: Beauty is Only Skin Deep

Posted on by Abigail Keeso in Beauty | 2 Comments

I woke up this morning and decided I’m over Hollywood’s perfection requirement. To all my girls(and boys) who have ever been embarrassed by their skin! I salute you! I’m not perfect – and that’s okay with me! Awesome! I think “perfection requirements” are all something we need to be aware of. Especially when being endlessly confronted with images like this:

A to Z Fashion: F is For…

My very first designer bag (not one I had to borrow from my Mom) was a Fendi bag – suitably named the Mama Bag. Sure, it was merely an evening bag considering it fit next to nothing and I tend to be a purse packrat but I coveted it with all my little fashion heart could. A few years ago I was shopping and came across a Fendi tunic that was discounted significantly; the only problem was that the tunic was four times too big.

Battle of The Toronto Yoga Studios: Tula Vs. Yoga Tree

Posted on by Abigail Keeso in Health & Wellness, WR Living | 4 Comments

Last October I wrote a post on why I ditched my gym membership. One of the reasons was because I was seeing a lot of awesome deals on yoga classes via daily deal sites. I’ve always loved yoga and would rather spend my time in a yoga studio than a gym. Since, I’ve had the opportunity to explore some of Toronto’s best Yoga studios. Today I will report on two studios I’ve gotten to know and my thoughts. Since summer 2012 is right around the corner and many of us are trying to get beach-body ready, I hope this can help you in planning your fitness regimens!
